BRP Tausug (LC295) and BRP Pangasinan (PS31) are now in the Bicol Region to bring relief to the communities that were adversely affected by the onslaught of Super Typhoon Rolly.
Landing craft BRP Tausug (LC295) arrived today at Castilla Seaport in Sorsogon carrying 13 tons of cargoes consisting of tents, folding canvasses, 60 sacks of rice, 2 sacks of used clothing, and 1000 packs of relief goods. The vessel, skippered by Cmdr. Jimar Gementiza, departed Naval Base Heracleo Alano in Sangley Point, Cavite City on Wednesday, November 4.
Also, the PN vessel BRP Pangasinan (PS31) which sailed from Lapu-Lapu City in Cebu on November 4 arrived at the port of Legazpi City yesterday, November 5. PS31 hauled around 40 tons of relief goods from Cebu through the initiatives of the Police Regional Office 7 (PRO-7) and in coordination with Naval Forces Central and different local government agencies and non-government organizations in the Central Visayas area.
The commander of Naval Forces Southern Luzon which covers the Bicol Region, Commo. Jose Ma Ambrosio Ezpeleta made rounds to the ports of Sorsogon and Legazpi City to personally oversee the humanitarian and disaster response efforts of these two Navy vessels.
These undertakings are another manifestation of the Philippine Navy being always ready and committed to providing prompt assistance to our disaster-stricken fellow Filipinos in order to alleviate them from their current ordeals.
