Police Regional Office (PRO)-7 Director Albert Ignatius Ferro checks out the 22 high speed tactical watercrafts manufactured by a shipbuilding firm in Danao City, Cebu. 

Commissioned by the PNP for its maritime group, each boat is powered by three outboard motors and able to reach speeds of more than 40 knots. It will be armed with 7.62 mm machine guns and/or automatic grenade launchers, says PRO-7 in a Facebook post. 

According to the post. “The high speed watercraft will further enhance maritime law enforcement and ensure public safety and internal security over Philippine territorial waters and rivers, including ports of entry and exit and sustain the protection of the maritime environment.”
