An arrival ceremony of to the contingents of Naval Task Group 80.5 aboard BRP Jose Rizal (FF150) accorded through the Philippine Fleet and Fleet Marine Ready Force, after their successful participation in Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2020 an international maritime exercise which is held around the islands of Hawaii from August 17 to 20, this year 2020.

PN Vice Commander, Rear Adm. Rey Dela Cruz presided the ceremony with the former Navy Chief and now Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) Administrator, Retired Vice Admiral Robert Empedrad gracing the event as the keynote speaker. It was conducted under the new normal situation with strict adherence to health and biosafety protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
BRP Jose Rizal (FF150) together with the participating navies from the 22 countries, actively participated in various serials, demonstrations, evolutions and other related tasks during the two-week exercise.
After the successful stint in the RIMPAC 2020, FF150 refueled and reprovisioned in Guam ahead of a long journey back to the country. The contingent has continued to manifest their desire for learning as they maximized their exposure in post-event exercises along with the USS Chung-Hoon of the United States Navy and the KDB Darulehsan (OPV 07) of the Royal Brunei Navy while enroute back to the Philippines.
The Philippine Navy’s participation in RIMPAC 2020 trumpeted the Command’s commitment to promote multilateral cooperation leading to the strengthening of relationship and cooperation among regional and extra-regional navies.
The addition of FF150 to the Navy’s inventory ensured the sustainment of deployment to the different naval operating forces. The Philippine Navy will remain committed to protect our maritime nation and will continue to work hard towards a strong and credible navy.
